5 Steps for Russia was a campaign by Alexei Navalny, launched in the spring of 2020 during the coronavirus pandemic.

Alexei Navalny called for urgent support for people and the economy: direct payments to citizens, aid for small and medium-sized businesses, and tax and financial relief. Amid lockdowns and falling incomes, these were not abstract measures but a matter of survival for millions of families. The campaign took the form of a website and a petition with five specific demands. People could sign the initiative and share it further. More than half a million people supported the initiative. A separate petition on the state portal ROI (the Russian Public Initiative platform) gathered the required 100,000 verified signatures in less than a day. Officials refused to consider it on the merits, but under public pressure the authorities were ultimately forced to fulfill some of the campaign’s demands.
