The Moscow protest on March 26, 2017 became the most notable episode in the wave of demonstrations that followed Alexei Navalny’s investigation, “He Is Not Dimon to You.” Tens of thousands of people took part. Alexei Navalny himself came out onto Tverskaya Street, but was detained almost immediately; the next day, a court sentenced him to 15 days in jail. More than a thousand people were detained in Moscow — at the time, this was a record number of detentions in a single day and a sign of how deeply the authorities were alarmed by the anti-corruption agenda.
