The Moscow protest on March 26, 2017 was the most prominent episode in the wave of demonstrations that followed Alexei Navalny’s investigation, “Don't Call Him Dimon.” Tens of thousands of people took part. Alexei Navalny himself came out onto Tverskaya Street, but was detained almost immediately; the next day, a court sentenced him to 15 days in jail. More than a thousand people were detained in Moscow — at the time, this was a record number of detentions in a single day and a sign of how deeply the authorities feared Navalny's anti-corruption agenda.
