We’ll write about Lisovenko and libel tomorrow, when Navalny is able to pass us a note with the text via a system of strings stretched along the front of his house. In the meantime, take a look at this excellent piece by Unhistorical George from the ACF Anti-Corruption Foundation’s investigations department.
Oh, how Fetisov lashed out at us back then. He outright called us “crooks” and said the whole thing was a lie.
"I didn’t forget to declare anything. And all of this information spread by him is a complete lie. Before accusing people of anything, you need to study the information carefully. But most importantly for me, the question is who is accusing me — this man is under investigation for fraud, for shady dealings; he is a crook himself, and he sees crooks in others." http://www.vesti.ru/doc.html?id=1142160
And then, all of a sudden, there it is. What do we see in Fetisov’s new declaration? That very same supposedly nonexistent 1,051-square-meter apartment
.
So it turns out the United Russia senator was deceiving all of us.
He lied, insulted us, and slandered us. But we’re not going to sue for libel.
If Navalny was fined 300,000 rubles for a tweet he didn’t even write, then just imagine how much they’d fine Fetisov for an apartment sitting on 10 sotkas (about 1,000 square meters, or 0.1 hectares). Our courts are honest, after all.
So we’ll refrain, but we will note that it would be nice for Senator Fetisov to say publicly now: sorry, dear folks at the Anti-Corruption Foundation. You were right, and you’re not wasting the public money that people raise for you.
Read George — the whole story is here. It’s excellently written.
