Today at 4 a.m., officers from the FSB (Russia’s Federal Security Service) and the Investigative Committee searched Alexei’s apartment in Maryino.

The formal pretext was the so-called "SPS case," that is, a case fabricated by Mr. Bastrykin over events that took place eight years ago.

The real reason—unless this is simply pressure and an attempt to retaliate for the Investigative Committee’s failure in court—seems completely baffling, given that after turning the apartment upside down, the FSB seized:
