The Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC, the supranational regulatory body of the Customs Union) has placed an order for carpets made from Algoy cattle hides and fine-wool sheep, with a total value of 15.7 million rubles.

The products are to be delivered to the commission’s new office near Moscow’s Paveletskaya metro station within 90 days of the contract being signed. The bids will be reviewed and the results announced on July 28.

According to the technical specifications posted Friday on the EEC’s official website, the commission is to receive, among other items, a handmade carpet made from fine-wool sheep’s wool measuring 250×400 cm, as well as carpets of the same composition measuring 200×300, 200×330, 310×230, 300×300, 300×400 (2 pieces), 300×500, 350×500, 350×600, 380×400, 550×500 (2 pieces), 600×600, and 760×340 cm, along with one item of complex construction.

The commission also requires a handmade carpet made from natural Algoy cattle hides measuring 180×250 cm, a similar but larger carpet measuring 300×410 cm, and a carpet of complex design with approximate dimensions of 360×780 cm. All work must be carried out in accordance with the attached sketches.

Thus, the average cost of each carpet ordered for the Eurasian Commission comes to 826,000 rubles.

The EEC is the main working body of the common economic space of Russia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan. The commission is headed by Viktor Khristenko, Russia’s former minister of industry and trade. http://www.vedomosti.ru/companies/news/28890301/evrazijskaya-ekonomicheskaya-komissiya-zakazala-kovry-na-15

They’ve completely lost it over there. Apparently that oaf Khristenko simply cannot walk on anything except a carpet worth 826,000 rubles. And of course we absolutely have to buy him one.

Let him ask his wife, Golikova, for the money—she made so much off “Arbidol” (a widely marketed Russian antiviral drug) that she could carpet all of Russia.
