Because we are urgently trying to collect the remaining votes on the ROI platform (Russian Public Initiative website) for the visa initiative, I’ve already received a billion identical messages: I registered ages ago, I don’t remember my password, I have no idea how to recover it, and in any case I’m too lazy to look for my SNILS (Russian pension insurance number).

My answer: recovering your password is not just easy — it’s very easy.

Below is a clear and simple guide: a) how to recover your password, and b) how to register if you don’t yet have a Gosuslugi account (Russia’s government services portal).

I remember that I promised to write a passionate and persuasive post for those who have doubts about the need for electronic voting in principle. I will write it, and I’m sure I’ll convince you. In the meantime, as an advance vote of confidence in me, recover your password and vote here: https://www.roi.ru/5336/

Fill out the form below, click “Continue,” and follow all subsequent system instructions.

The “identity verification” stage is the most difficult. You need to choose the verification method that is most convenient for you. For residents of places where there are Rostelecom customer service centers, I recommend getting the activation code there — it’s faster. For everyone else, the best option is to receive the activation code through Russian Post.

You can find the nearest activation code pickup point here.

If you chose “Rostelecom,” you need to go to one of their offices with your passport and pension insurance card and say that you want to register on the Gosuslugi portal. They will give you an activation code, which you will then need to enter on the website. Enter the activation code, your login, and your password — and you’re registered.

As soon as you get your password, come straight here: https://www.roi.ru/5336/
