As is well known, North Korean television fears no truth in its reports about the United States and boldly explains that, for example, birds are hard to spot in America because "they have all been eaten by the poor living on the streets".
One is tempted to hold this up as an example to our domestic media, which are clearly still underperforming. Their budget is bigger than North Korea’s, yet they have ten times less spirit and creativity.
Clearly, VGTRK (Russia’s state television and radio broadcaster), with the 85 billion rubles a year it gets from taxpayers, could come up with something more convincing than this:
They could at least have added a subheading: the most popular ministers among French farmers are Shoigu and Lavrov; Putin’s approval rating is approaching 81 percent.
And this:
It’s just begging for this line: Hollywood stars bowed before the healing properties of pebbles from Kuban. Why not add it? The Expert publishing house is slacking off, even though it recently received a promise from the state-owned Vnesheconombank of yet another loan worth 550 million rubles.
In short, it’s a disgrace. We won’t defeat the enemy like this, especially since the foe is not asleep and is spreading subversive leaflets that unsettle patriotic minds.
To end on a positive note after all, here is an example of simple, high-quality work:
Simple and tasteful. This is a banner on Vesti.ru leading to a story about how the honest Liksutov will soon win 3.5 million rubles from the deceitful Navalny over information about Liksutov’s offshore companies (which of course do not exist), and then hand the money out to the needy.
We can do it when we want to!
