Sechin has outdone himself. He came up with an absolutely brilliant explanation for why money from the National Wealth Fund should be handed over to Rosneft:
You won’t issue the money to us — you’ll simply transfer it.
We’re not asking for money from the reserve fund — we’re merely requesting it.
We won’t spend this money — we’ll merely expend it.
A huge difference.
At this point, it’s hard to tell: is Sechin so utterly indifferent to public opinion that he just says words with no meaning, or have we lowered our standards for the government so much that no one even notices anymore?
