Legally speaking, it seemed impossible for us to lose this case, but the headline “Navalny won in a Russian court” still looks surreal.
Still. We’ve just won our case against Roskomnadzor (Russia’s federal media and communications regulator) over the refusal to register my media outlet.
The return of the documents was ruled unlawful. The court ordered Roskomnadzor to reconsider the application to register the media outlet.
So we hope the registration will go through soon.
And don’t mind the fact that the name “Alexei Navalny Information Agency” sounds an awful lot like “Odessa Bagel Artel ‘Moscow Baranki’” (a deliberately absurd, old-fashioned Soviet-style name) — we’ll definitely turn this media outlet into something fun and useful.
