Over the weekend, the All-Russian Civic Forum took place, organized by the former finance minister Alexei Kudrin’s Committee of Civil Initiatives.

By all appearances, it turned out to be a pretty good event; at least, I’ve only come across positive reactions.

Following the forum, a resolution was adopted that, besides the usual general political blah-blah (worded, in my view, too cautiously, but overall not badly), contains four specific points. It is a call for society to push forward concrete initiatives.

As you can see, the demand to ratify Article 20 of the UN Convention has been singled out as a separate demand, which is excellent.

Thanks to the forum participants for drawing attention to this once again. It is extremely important. In fact, it is hard for me to recall any political initiative that has been put forward as a key priority by so many different political forces while being totally ignored by the authorities and pro-government media outlets (which is to say, almost all media).

Our “State Duma Map” now looks like this. As you can see, the Communist Party of the Russian Federation and A Just Russia are fully in favor of ratification. And even within United Russia, by calling deputies one by one, we have already found 19 lawmakers ready to vote “yes,” even though we have contacted only slightly more than that.

So, in terms of getting the #Twenty campaign onto the political establishment’s agenda, we are doing fairly well so far. Let’s finish the signature drive on the Russian Public Initiative platform as soon as possible so that we can formalize this effort once and for all and move on to the stage of informing ordinary citizens rather than just activists and experts.

Only 15,000 signatures remain to be collected. Don’t put it off—recover your password if you’ve lost it, and vote.
