Lyuba Sobol conducted an excellent investigation intothis and found out how much we pay for the medical treatment of the deadbeats in the Moscow city government.
The very same people for whom, supposedly "because they are no longer needed," 28 medical institutions are now being shut down, 7,000 medical workers are being laid off, and a Candidate of Medical Sciences (roughly equivalent to a PhD in medicine) is being offered a job as a nanny.
So, there are 51,000 officials in the "Moscow Mayor's Office and city government," and 50,180 rubles per year are allocated for each person's medical care.
As Lyuba rightly points out, the average cost of a voluntary health insurance policy in Moscow is 35,000 rubles. An expanded commercial plan from Alfa Insurance costs 38,000 rubles.
And on top of being treated in privileged government clinics, they also allocate 50,000 rubles a year for themselves.
So the next time you go to a public clinic and can't get your child an appointment with a pediatrician, take comfort in the fact that the officials living off your back have no problems with healthcare.
What all 51,000 of these officials really need is not extra medical coverage, but a law criminalizing illicit enrichment. Vote right now — we really need your vote.
