Whenever an email with the subject line “criminal case” shows up in the ACF mailing list, everyone immediately starts thinking: right, what have these crooks come up with this time to get in our way?
In other words, the default assumption is that criminal cases are opened only against people who fight corruption. But this time, there was good news from St. Petersburg.
For two years, our St. Petersburg branch has been hammering the leadership of the Gergievskoye municipal district, which steals on everything from lectures to public improvement projects. For two years, we have been demanding that a criminal case be opened and that a real anti-corruption investigation begin.
And now, at last, it has happened.
Apparently, a New Year’s gift from the Interior Ministry’s investigative department to ACF’s St. Petersburg branch.
