2011. President Medvedev argues that government officials should leave the boards of directors of companies. For the sake of the investment climate.

2015. The Russian government, led by Medvedev, declares that improving the investment climate is a top priority. Apparently, as part of that effort, we are now being told that officials will return to companies' boards of directors.

The claim that "there were no senior officials before" is a brazen lie. Medvedev chaired Gazprom's board of directors, Sechin headed Rosneft's, Kudrin was at VTB, and so on—but that's not even the main point.

Why the hell do we need a government that has no clear position on the most important issues and, every few years, does the exact opposite, each time nodding along with a smug air?

These people should be thrown out—they have no business running the country.
