I’m continuing to make my small contribution to our shared election campaign: today it was Nerekhta–Volgorechensk, plus two courtyard meetings in Kostroma.
Nerekhta is a very beautiful town; it’s a shame I only got to see it in passing.
The girls from my “support group” keep following me around and shouting at meetings that I’m an American agent. Today, though, they only managed to make it to two meetings and missed the other two. Must have gotten tired.
Volgorechensk is considered the richest town in the region: it has a major state district power plant and a pipe factory, but the problems are the same as everywhere else. There isn’t much work, and people are moving away. It’s a town of energy workers, yet electricity rates are insane and impossible to explain.
Number two on the list, Vladimir Andreichenko, was with me today and spoke at all the meetings.
In Kostroma, we held two small courtyard meetings. We got caught in the rain, but no one left.
It was very engaging—many thanks to everyone who came and everyone who helped organize the meetings.
