Today’s column by Oleg Navalny in The New Times seemed fairly harmless, but by the standards of the FSIN (Russia’s Federal Penitentiary Service), combined with the author’s last name, that is apparently something to be punished for, so he has once again been thrown into SHIZO (a punitive isolation cell). For the maximum term: 15 days. The last time, he was given 15 days in SHIZO in August.

A reminder: SHIZO means a cell measuring 3 by 1.5 meters, and the bunk is fastened to the wall at 4:30 a.m. Here is how Khodorkovsky describes it:

We still do not know the formal reason, since there is no contact with Oleg, but they have already slapped him with six disciplinary violations there (maybe more by now), so finding a pretext is not a problem.

Bastards—what else is there to say. They have taken a man hostage and are punishing him for daring to remind people of himself with an article.

He was supposed to have an extended family visit (3 days) with his wife and child at the end of the month—now it is canceled, and apparently such visits will be canceled altogether.

You can write to Oleg (though I am not sure letters are delivered to SHIZO): 303900, Oryol Region, settlement of Naryshkino, 62 Zavodskaya St., Penal Colony No. 5, Oleg Anatolyevich Navalny, born 1983.
