And here is a list of slogans approved by the Chechen government for the January 21 rally in support of Kadyrov.
“Liberals of every stripe crave crises, protests, and deaths!”
“The parasites of the fifth column are like a tumor on the body of Russia!”
“Navalny is America’s little friend, but Russia’s little enemy.”
“A simple piece of advice for you, citizen: don’t stand with the fifth column!”
“While Yashin’s people were taking it easy, Kadyrov’s men were fighting for Russia!”
“Down with the provocateurs—the sons of Satan! Kadyrov is the country’s pillar!”
The slogan I liked most was: if Navalny jumps out into the field, he’ll bring misery to everyone.
On the one hand, it’s funny. On the other, Kadyrov and company should hold their rallies with their own money. How much does Chechnya collect for its budget on its own, without federal subsidies? That’s what they should be spending.
As things stand, I’m pretty sure I pay more in taxes into Russia’s budget—and therefore Chechnya’s as well—than any of the freeloaders coming up with or chanting these slogans.
Not to mention Makarevich (Andrei Makarevich, the Russian rock musician), who is supposedly a “lousy and cowardly traitor.”
