Braza is spending his second birthday in prison. I visited him today, though this time I wasn’t even allowed to leave him a care package—the detention conditions are strict.
He says he has enough ingredients in his cell to make two almost real shawarmas, so he feels like a king and won’t be without a birthday meal.
He’s upbeat and bearded. It feels like he’s already read every book in the world.
I told him the family news, about SpaceX’s successful rocket landing, and about the Panama offshore scandal (the Panama Papers). I passed along everyone’s birthday wishes.
