The Russian Presidential Administration has sent us an official notice saying that yet another ACF employee has been recognized as a real politician, and therefore is absolutely forbidden from running in the election.
It’s Ivan Zhdanov.
He is a very good lawyer and heads our legal department. Zhdanov is actively handling the lawsuits related to Chaika, and together with me he was a co-plaintiff in the lawsuit against the "PLATON" road toll system.
A member of the political council of the Progress Party.
Ivan is our main candidate in the Barvikha elections, where we are taking part both to help local residents solve their problems and to give ACF better access to documents about shady dealings involving Barvikha’s expensive land.
Zhdanov is working hard, going door to door, and has initiated several lawsuits against local landlords. He has started legal action over the poor quality of the settlement’s drinking water. He is also suing those who block access roads with fences.
And together with our other candidates, he also took a bit of a swipe at the Rotenbergs (I’ll explain the details later).
As I wrote in the first post about Barvikha, one of our goals was to test how the electoral system works under the new head of the Central Election Commission.
We tested it. Today Zhdanov came to the election commission, and its smiling chairman handed him this document.
Here is Ivan’s own post about it.
A criminal case for draft evasion (!!!).
Someone should inform the Investigative Committee that neither our defense minister, nor the prime minister, nor the president served in the military.
The head (!) of Moscow’s main (!) investigative directorate opens a criminal case for draft evasion (!) and sends notice of it to the election commission before sending it to the person the case was opened against.
That’s how important it is to them to keep ACF from getting at the sacred secrets of Barvikha land.
Interestingly, the case was opened on April 12, the very same day Zhdanov received applause at our staff meeting for excellent polling showing his high approval rating.
So, let’s send Ivan our support, but also congratulate him on the recognition. What opposition politician these days doesn’t have a criminal case hanging over him? Ivan’s life is now going to get even more interesting, though in some ways more difficult.
By the way, today Zhdanov was looking for campaign volunteers. We need to help, because now they’ll start up the usual refrain: "another one of Navalny’s criminals is trying to grab power" and "a criminal case has been opened against this candidate," and that’s pretty hard to counter.
Still, the truth is on our side, and we see what is happening as yet another confirmation of that.
P.S. And of course, while I’m at it, I’d like to send my warm regards to the new lineup of the Central Election Commission. The 2016 elections are going to be very fair indeed, sure.
