Even though our elections are elections in name only, there are still a few isolated pockets of resistance in the country and places where a real choice still exists.
This is one of those rare cases where the people of Vologda got lucky. They have an excellent single-member district candidate for the State Duma.
Meet Yevgeny Domozhirov, a member of the Central Council of the Party of Progress and the leading anti-corruption fighter in the Vologda region.
I’m sure most people know him very well. For more than five years now, he has been steadfastly fighting the Vologda mafia entrenched in power. He regularly publishes a newspaper and tells people the truth. Dozens of investigations and exposés, hundreds of problems solved for Vologda residents. He defends both entire areas and workforces, fears no one, and even stopped the governor from grabbing a pine forest. All in all, the situation is clear-cut: you simply won’t find a better candidate. When people talk about the opposition in Vologda, they ask: who is Vologda’s number two opposition politician?
At the same time, every kind of pressure has been brought to bear on him: searches, arrests, criminal cases, cars being set on fire, and they have even shot at him. Most recently, they even gave him 15 days in detention instead of the 10 allowed by law. An unbreakable man! He’s exactly the kind of person you should vote for—especially since his main rival is Shulepov from United Russia (the ruling party), a man with a thoroughly tainted reputation.
In short, he deserves support!
