We kept waiting and waiting for the head of state-owned Rosneft to make good on his promise and sue Novaya Gazeta over its investigation, which reported that the Sechins had bought a $150 million yacht through an offshore company.
But the lawsuit turned out to be nothing like what had been claimed:
Violation of privacy. Wonderful.
The very fact that the yacht exists is not being disputed. Which means it is, in effect, being acknowledged.
At first they were shouting about “false information”:
A newspaper writes about the head of a state company buying a yacht with money whose source can hardly be called anything other than “corrupt,” and that is a violation of privacy.
How dare you, citizens of Russia, pester us with your interest in what we stole from you.
