Sometimes it happens that a man is happily married for 35 years. He lives with his wife in the same apartment, and then suddenly—just like that—he forgets she even exists.

What wife? I, well, got divorced ages ago.

That is exactly what happened to today’s hero, Ivan Nikolaevich Karnilin, in whose name we discovered two apartments in Miami worth 130 million rubles (about US$2 million at the time).

As it turns out, he got divorced long ago. He gave everything to his wife—and then threw the wife herself away. Out of sight, out of mind.

So that means he has been divorced since March 2015.

It is strange, then, that in October 2015 he gives an interview and says the following about his wife:

The article also includes a photo, evidently provided by the mayor. Caption: with his wife Alla — since 1980.

And not a word about them living separately. Not a word about dividing property.

Here is a second interview, after the “divorce” and already in his capacity as mayor:

How does that work, Ivan Nikolaevich?

So it turns out to be a classic situation:

You are constantly forgetting something. First your wife. Then the divorce. Then the apartments.

The answer is simple: the mayor of Nizhny Novgorod is lying to all of us. He should be removed from office, and the source of the funds used to buy the Miami real estate should be investigated. After all, Karnilin’s biography does not look at all like the biography of someone who legally earned 130 million rubles.

Help spread the video.
