If you had visited the website of any news agency on March 26, you would not have seen a single report about the protests. Television was silent, radio was silent. All Sunday, state media were trying to figure out how to cover what was happening. From the Russian Far East to Moscow, tens of thousands of people took to the streets and demanded answers from the authorities over corruption allegations, but the press pretended that nothing was happening in the country.

By Sunday evening, the first reaction appeared: Vladimir Solovyov spoke cautiously and very vaguely. For a while longer, journalists were still trying to find the right tone. But then clear instructions finally came down from above, and the protests began to be discussed in unison every evening on every channel.
