Just look at what these crooked officials are up to. Genuine provocateurs.
This Friday, I have a meeting in Nizhny Novgorod. Everything was done by the book: on September 18, we submitted an application to the local city administration for a good, suitable venue.
The city administration replied: we are approving your rally at a different location, and offered us several inferior sites to choose from.
Fine, to hell with you, we decided, and replied: we agree — the rally will take place at Markin Square at 6:00 p.m. Under the law, this is exactly the approval procedure. From the moment we notified them in writing that we accepted the authorities’ alternative proposal, the rally was considered approved.
Accordingly, we started inviting people to Markin Square. We released a video, and the VK group has more than a thousand members.
And then the Nizhny Novgorod authorities got new marching orders: the media started reporting on Governor Shantsev’s impending resignation.
But of course he doesn’t want to resign — he wants to stay at the trough a little longer. So now they have to curry favor by every possible means and stop me from holding this meeting — the kind of main trick the Kremlin will no doubt appreciate.
And then it began:
The city administration says in a press release that it withdrew its approval by phone. The law provides for no such thing, and in any case it’s impossible — people have already been invited and will come anyway.
A local thief from United Russia (the ruling party) (the family’s fleet of Porsches and a Mercedes SLK was bought with money from unknown sources) — deputy head of the city administration Kholkina — is personally running through the comments in Nizhny Novgorod groups, hysterically writing that the approval has been withdrawn.
And today it’s reached a whole new level: the Nizhny Novgorod city administration is trying to hold a car festival on the site of our rally.
What is this supposed to be? We have official approval. People will come anyway, even if we cancel the meeting — it’s already impossible to notify everyone. And we definitely are not canceling; we will be there. There’ll be another stage there, some kind of car festival. The site is fairly small.
Classic stupidity and provocation. And this is the second time the brain-dead Nizhny Novgorod authorities have done something like this. When we opened our campaign office in the city, they blocked the door to the rented premises. What a brilliant idea! Problem solved! Surely Navalny won’t speak without a microphone, standing on a bench in the rain.
No, of course he won’t:
In short, we are continuing to act within the law: we have sent statements to the Interior Ministry, the Investigative Committee, the FSB, and the prosecutor’s office reporting a crime and an impending provocation.
I am coming to Nizhny Novgorod. The meeting will take place. Of course, as usual, I would prefer to speak from a stage and answer questions, after which we will peacefully disperse. But if that is not possible, I’ll manage without a stage or a microphone. I’m not proud. We’ll take a peaceful march through this beautiful Russian city.
People of Nizhny Novgorod, be sure to come, and help me spread this post. I’m sure you are not prepared to give up all your rights for the comfortable life of a half-dismissed governor and a woman bureaucrat protecting her Porsche and Mercedes.
The meeting’s place and time cannot be changed.
September 29 at 6:00 p.m. Nizhny Novgorod, Markin Square (opposite the River Station).
