We recently came across a great story: Ruptly, the video agency owned by Russia Today, produced a report claiming that a New York restaurant was serving a five-tier burger — the “Putin Burger” — in honor of Putin’s birthday. All state media outlets promptly wrote about it in unison. It later turned out they had made the burger up — as journalist Alexei Kovalev discovered.
Kira Yarmysh liked this story so much that she even retold it to Navalny while he was in a special detention facility, and he suggested making a video about it:
