Remember the Police Ombudsman public page—the largest online community of Russian police officers—which posted a video about Zolotov and then held a spectacular poll on who was right—Zolotov or Navalny?
Well, now they are trying to shut it down for that kind of political mischief. A group of police officers, apparently acting on orders from their superiors, filed complaints saying that their personal data had been posted on that page and are demanding that it be blocked on those grounds. The judge in the case is Marina Vasina—the very same one who heard Usmanov’s lawsuit against me. And the first thing she did this time was declare the proceedings closed to the public.
Police Ombudsman is a public page that essentially served as a trade union, and now they are trying to block it because people there dared to discuss politics. Do you think only opposition activists are being pressured? No—as you can see, now police officers are too.
The hearing will take place tomorrow, October 24, at 9 a.m. at the Lyublinsky District Court.
