Many of my friends know that I’ve been obsessed with this idea for several years now.
Simply because I need a site like this myself. I use Twitter a lot and consider it the best source of news. It used to be a more or less liberal social network in Russia, but now all the Kremlin crowd hangs out there too, which makes Twitter an even more useful tool for gauging the day’s information landscape.
There are just two problems:
- you have to spend a lot of time on Twitter;
- and you need to tune your feed very carefully.
So I dreamed of an “honest aggregator” — a place where nobody manipulates things based on political preferences, and where there’s a system for filtering out bots. After all, it’s very easy to make a post or tweet look popular by formal metrics like retweets or likes using simple artificial boosting.
You open an honest aggregator like that and in one minute you find out not just “what’s happening on Twitter,” but “what’s happening in the country” — because people write about everything going on in the country on Twitter.
A tool like this can also become an important way to fight censorship and distortion of the information space.
In short, nobody had built anything like it, so we built it ourselves.

Right now, trending.today features the top posts from Twitter, Telegram, and Instagram. And, accordingly, the top users on those platforms as well.
And the user ranking is the best part. There are no guys with artificially inflated millions of followers there; the ranking is made up of people who posted the most popular content over the last 30 days. In other words, if someone is at the top on our site, it means the largest possible number of real people read them over the course of the month.
Most importantly, everything is fair on our side. No manipulation based on political views. We show the results as they are — otherwise the whole aggregator would lose its point.
