Here’s a story about the Beautiful Russia of the Future we aspire to, illustrated by the example of Ilya Yashin.

A person gets elected as a deputy. He voluntarily gives up privileges. He does very specific things that benefit his constituents. But at the same time, he also engages in real politics: he elevates corruption and other issues that concern Muscovites to the citywide level (such as the theft involving de-icing chemicals and paving tiles).

At the same time, he works publicly and transparently, giving his constituents a detailed report every year.

Question: have you seen deputies like that in United Russia? I haven’t either.

Then one more question: why the hell is the same Moscow City Duma, instead of having 45 Yashins, packed with a crowd of pointless crooks handpicked by Sobyanin?

Take a look at Yashin’s excellent report, and let it motivate you to practice smart voting this September—in Moscow, in St. Petersburg, and in other cities as well.
