Now it’s official. Deputy Metelsky, the man we recently published a major investigation about, is not only a thief but also insane. A completely unhinged person who cannot coherently express a single sentence or a single thought.
As a reminder, Metelsky has already been a deputy for 18 years and wants another five. And now he is supposedly running a “campaign,” urging people to vote for him. For example, he holds meetings with “voters.” It is almost impossible to find out when and where these events take place, but we found out and slipped in. Watch our report: it’s painful and difficult, but at least you’ll get to see a United Russia party member in his natural habitat.
And while you watch, please don’t forget: you and I pay this man a salary of 5 million rubles. And on top of that, he steals hundreds of millions more by exploiting his status as a deputy.

“Unrest,” Maidan (the 2014 pro-democracy uprising in Ukraine), the U.S., troublemakers, Ukraine—that is about all Metelsky can say to the people in the room. That is his campaigning. In his view, after hearing this, Muscovites are supposed to vote for him. We seriously doubt, though, that there were any real Muscovites from the Golyanovo district at that meeting. Most of those present were elderly people (quite well organized), who for some reason were not bothered in the slightest either by their deputy’s Austrian lifestyle or by his 75-year-old billionaire mother. The “voters” shouted at us, would not let us ask questions, and grabbed us by our clothes.
Of course, we asked Metelsky about both his mother and his billions. He gave no substantive answer, saying only that he is “honest and clean.” He also says he is proud to be a United Russia deputy (though for some reason he is running as an independent). And if he really were corrupt and stealing, people would be talking about it on television, not on YouTube.
In short, if a real voter from Golyanovo had ended up at this meeting, they would have left with ONE thought only: under no circumstances, ever, just NE-VER vote for Metelsky and United Russia.
And they might also have taken along this wonderful campaign newspaper. It includes a recipe for Baltic-style cold beet soup from Metelsky (or, well, his mother) and a great scanword puzzle.
Metelsky is running in District 15. That includes the Golyanovo, Metrogorodok, and Severnoye Izmaylovo neighborhoods. If you live there, or know someone who does, show them this video. Let everyone see who has been “representing their interests” for the past 18 years.
