One of the most frustrating things about politics in Russia—and you can see it happening once again right now—is that for many of us, the foreign political agenda matters more than Russia’s own.
Right now, there is a genuine nationwide environmental disaster unfolding in the Arctic. I wish we were discussing it not just as much, but at least only three times less than what is happening on the streets of the United States. Because as things stand, both the public and the media are giving it 333 times less attention.
And meanwhile, some truly sensational things are happening there. Here is an employee of Rosprirodnadzor in Norilsk (Russia’s federal environmental watchdog) saying directly on camera that his superiors are committing official misconduct. His bosses are covering the case up and downplaying the scale of the disaster, and he was removed from the inspection as soon as he started documenting everything.
We gladly watch movies with plots like this. But here it is a real person, one of our fellow citizens. And a disaster on our own land.

By the way, people have long been asking me to set up a contact channel on Telegram where they can safely tell me about various villains and their dirty dealings. The existing "Black Box" is not convenient for everyone.
So we’ve made a contact bot. If you know anything about Rosprirodnadzor and its schemes, write in.
