My beloved Margarita Simonyan never stops delighting me.
A month ago, there was news that she had filed a lawsuit against me, Sobol, and the outlet Znak.com for defamation and damage to her business reputation. The claim was drafted so badly that the court refused to accept it, but that didn’t stop our Margarita. She corrected the filing and submitted it again. All this time, we were left guessing what exactly had offended her so deeply. I talk about Simonyan quite often, after all—we’ve done several investigations into how she and her husband, Tigran Keosayan, siphon off millions through the monstrous TV show "International Sawmill" and the film "The Crimean Bridge". Sobol did her own investigation into fake boosting on RT’s YouTube channel. In short, there were plenty of possibilities, and we were eagerly waiting to finally receive the lawsuit.
And now, at last, it has arrived. It’s so magnificent that you have to see it too.
Take a close look at this screenshot of my post. What do you think wounded Margarita Simonyan so badly here that she ran to court to defend her business reputation?
The word “pathetic.” Margarita Simonyan was so offended that I called her channel pathetic that she decided to challenge it in court. She even attached a dictionary definition:
But of course that’s not all. Serious work was done with explanatory dictionaries—and not just one of them:
But perhaps you think Simonyan is offended only because I call her talentless, pathetic, and a thief?
No. In Margo’s view, I committed another, far more terrible crime. I cast doubt on her honesty in front of the BOSS:
Anyway, read the whole thing—it only gets better. The full text of the lawsuit is here.
And Margarita Simonyan is demanding 500,000 rubles from each of us (about 5,400 USD). Apparently, the millions from the state budget that she steals under cover of her channel, her shameful TV show, and her pseudo-patriotic films are not enough for her. She is such a thief that she’ll profit even from accusations of theft.
