Navalny’s lawyers received a remarkable reply from an aide to Moskalkova.

On April 2, they appealed to her, demanding that a doctor be allowed to see Alexei and that he be given the medical care he needs.

According to Moskalkova’s office, however, Navalny is receiving all the care he needs. Drug therapy “is sufficient,” and Alexei “does not require” inpatient examination or treatment.

Apparently, nicotinic acid, two ibuprofen tablets a day, and a single paramedic for the entire penal colony—where there has been a tuberculosis outbreak—constitute all the medical care one could possibly need when your back has been hurting for three months, your legs are giving out, and you are losing sensation in your hands.

Moskalkova’s adviser also added that the “human rights advocates” Butina and Vyshinsky, who visited Alexei in the colony, found no violations.

So a propaganda segment by two “journalists” from the worthless channel Russia Today, who specifically traveled to see Navalny in order to film a report portraying Penal Colony No. 2 as a “summer camp,” is considered sufficient proof that his rights are being respected. Human Rights Commissioner Tatyana Moskalkova and her advisers are completely satisfied.

Moskalkova’s adviser also reminded everyone that Alexei’s health is being closely monitored by the Vladimir Region Public Monitoring Commission (a civilian prison oversight body). Presumably that includes the same Vladimir Grigoryan who recently claimed that he had worked in the Federal Penitentiary Service for 30 years and therefore knew for certain that Navalny was faking it. What an impressive team of human rights defenders!

Today is the 14th day of Navalny’s hunger strike. He began it because he is demanding access to a doctor. That is the right of any prisoner. But in Russia, human rights are handled by cowards and sadists, ready to resort to lies, treachery, and murder to please Putin.

Alexei is keeping his spirits up and sends his regards to everyone, but since arriving at the colony he has lost 15 kilograms (about 33 pounds), has difficulty walking, and barely has the strength to speak. Time is now being measured in days.
