Today, a disgraceful court case began, aimed at declaring the ACF and Navalny’s campaign offices “extremist organizations.” The hearings will be closed to the public, supposedly because the prosecutor’s materials contain “classified information.”
As we expected, they will provide no evidence whatsoever to justify our “extremist activity.” That is already clear from the prosecutor’s first motion, which claims that extremist materials are posted on our many platforms (that part is true) — but that claim itself is false. Anyone can look through our websites right now and see that this is not the case.
See the signature on the document? D.G. Popov. And you can find plenty of information about this crook on our platforms. This old acquaintance of ours is Denis Popov, the Moscow prosecutor and owner of real estate in Montenegro and Spain.
The special irony is that they sent a crook and a corrupt official — someone we have fought and will continue to fight — to demand the liquidation of the ACF.
It is obvious that the court will grant this motion very soon, in the same secretive manner. We have now received 11 volumes of “non-classified” case materials, which we will be reviewing:
As expected, there is nothing in the classified portion of the documents. Only the lawyers will be allowed to review it. We assume it contains reports from a couple of loser FSB officers (the FSB is Russia’s security service). And because of those reports, the case has been closed off to the media.
Holding this trial without public participation is absurd. But an even greater absurdity is banning Navalny’s campaign offices without Navalny himself taking part in the proceedings. And this is not just absurd — it is also unlawful. That is why Alexei asked us to prepare a motion for his participation in the case, which will be filed shortly.
And our answer to Popov’s gang and his superiors is this: we will absolutely continue publishing our investigations.
The lawyers in the case against the ACF and the campaign offices are Ivan Pavlov’s “Team 29” and attorney Vladimir Voronin.
