Appeal of the suspended sentence being converted into a real prison term in the Yves Rocher case

On February 20, 2021, the Moscow City Court upheld the decision to convert Alexei Navalny’s suspended sentence into a real prison term in the Yves Rocher case. The court slightly reduced the term by crediting him for another period of house arrest, but left the main ruling unchanged: Navalny was to be sent to a penal colony. This hearing was a continuation of the proceedings that began immediately after his return from Germany. The authorities were cementing a new reality: a man who had survived an attempted murder was not treated as a victim, but sent to prison.
