The court slightly reduced the sentence by crediting him with an additional period of house arrest, but left the main ruling in force: Navalny was to be sent to a penal colony. This hearing was a continuation of the proceedings that began immediately after his return from Germany. The authorities were cementing a new reality: a man who had survived an attempted murder was not treated as a victim, but sent to prison.
