On March 1, 2015, a memorial mourning march for Boris Nemtsov took place in Moscow. Nemtsov had been killed near the Kremlin on the night of February 27–28. Before the murder, the event had been planned by its organizers, including Alexei Navalny, as an opposition march called “Spring,” but after Nemtsov’s death, its format was changed. Alexei Navalny was unable to take part in the march itself as he had been arrested for handing out campaign leaflets inviting people to attend. This gallery captures one of the most difficult moments for the Russian opposition.
