Izhevsk became the sixteenth city on Alexei Navalny’s 2017 autumn campaign tour. On that day, Udmurtia was in mourning after an explosion in a residential building that killed seven people: before the rally, Navalny laid flowers at the site of the tragedy, and he opened the event itself with a minute of silence. The tour was part of Navalny’s presidential campaign: after opening regional campaign offices, he began holding large meetings with voters across Russia.
