In the fall of 2017, Alexei Navalny launched a major campaign tour across Russia as part of his presidential campaign. He traveled from city to city, met with voters, presented his platform, and answered people’s questions despite constant refusals by the authorities to approve events, detentions, and pressure on campaign offices. This tour became an important part of the campaign: after opening regional headquarters, the team moved on to large public meetings. At that moment, Navalny’s politics was literally taking place in public squares — in different cities, before thousands of people, without federal television coverage or administrative backing.
