Orenburg became the seventh city on Alexei Navalny’s 2017 autumn campaign tour. The day before, Navalny had been detained, which prevented him from attending a meeting in Nizhny Novgorod, and he spent the day at a police station, but after his release he continued the tour anyway and arrived in Orenburg. The tour was part of Navalny’s presidential campaign: after opening regional campaign offices, he began holding large meetings with voters across Russia.
