On March 5, 2017, Alexei Navalny arrived in Kazan for the opening of his presidential campaign headquarters. For the campaign, this was one of the first major offices in the Volga region: it was meant to recruit supporters, prepare campaign materials, and organize the future collection of signatures for his nomination. Such trips were important not only organizationally but politically as well: Navalny was showing that his campaign existed not only in Moscow, but was being built as a nationwide network.
