On May 26, 2017, Alexei Navalny opened campaign offices in Tambov and Ryazan. In Tambov, the meeting had to be held in a warehouse hangar at a wholesale depot after numerous venues refused to host it, while in Ryazan the opening was marked by pressure and the presence of pro-government groups. This is a good example of how the regional campaign faced not only official bans, but also a more everyday, informal system of disruption: denying access to a hall, intimidating landlords, and creating an atmosphere of threat around the event.
