On March 4, 2017, Alexei Navalny opened his presidential campaign headquarters in Ufa. As in many other cities, people tried to turn a normal political meeting into a confrontation: after the opening, Navalny and his associates were pelted with eggs. But the headquarters began operating anyway—as a base for volunteers, campaigning, and future support-gathering in Bashkortostan.
