The yellow rubber duck became one of the most recognizable symbols of the protest movement that followed Alexei Navalny’s investigation Don't Call Him Dimon. Among other things, the film drew attention to a lavish “duck house” located on a property linked to Dmitry Medvedev. The absurdity of the image quickly turned it into a symbol of protest against corruption. People brought rubber ducks to demonstrations, featured them on protest signs, and placed them in public spaces. The authorities, in turn, often treated the toy as a political symbol to be controlled or removed. In this way, Navalny’s investigation did more than expose corruption at the highest levels of government. It also gave rise to a new visual language of protest — one built around a simple yellow duck.
