Doctors get infected and then infect others. Look at Syktyvkar: one of the hospitals there is now almost entirely infected—doctors and nurses alike. They had to shut the hospital down. ⠀ The authorities aren’t buying protective equipment and are generally trying not to raise the issue at all, because otherwise people will start asking: where did you spend the oil money over the last 20 years? ⠀ On the contrary, for some damn reason, we’re flying masks out to Italy and the United States. ⠀ In the end, one of the medical trade unions, the “Doctors’ Alliance,” launched a fundraiser for protective equipment. I sent them a little money too. They raised 2 million rubles, bought the first batch of masks, gloves, and other supplies, and took them to a hospital in the Novgorod region, from which a call for help had come. ⠀ And then the police stopped the medical workers carrying the supplies. They blocked them on the road, wouldn’t let them through, and started drawing up reports on everyone. ⠀ And tomorrow, that same cop and the official from the Novgorod administration who gave the order will themselves be brought to a hospital sick, and there they’ll be infected by a doctor who caught the coronavirus because he was working without a mask. ⠀ The people in power in Russia are criminals and enemies.
