Since the introduction of the so-called “counter-sanctions,” 17 million kilograms of food from Europe have been destroyed by government order. ⠀ And this is happening against the backdrop of those horrifying videos that, sadly, each of us sees regularly. They are filmed outside supermarkets, where on the days expired food is thrown out, crowds of desperate pensioners gather, literally snatching that food from the trash. ⠀ That is why I can describe all these “campaigns” devised by United Russia only as not merely monstrous hypocrisy, but also an insult to the memory of the real lessons of the Siege of Leningrad (the WWII blockade of the city).
