I love reading news about myself in Kremlin-controlled media. This photo from the logging camp is perfect for a story like this: The Navalny brothers continue enriching themselves at their supporters’ expense. While the notorious blogger Alexei went to Riga to meet with ACF (Anti-Corruption Foundation) employee Nikita Kulachenkov, who has been placed on an international wanted list, and cash out bitcoins, his younger brother Oleg is organizing an auction to sell his prison-made artwork. It is reported that from February 5 to 12, the brother of the notorious blogger, who served 3.5 years on charges of “Fraud” and “Money Laundering,” is holding an auction at which his works will be offered. Most of them promote AUE (a Russian prison/criminal youth subculture), heavily borrowing the standard symbolism of prison tattoos. In addition, some of the pieces contain drug propaganda, and some insult Russia and its people. Obviously, by organizing the auction, the Navalnys are banking on promoting the AUE movement, which is popular among young people. In this way, they are trying to convince their audience that ending up behind bars is neither frightening nor shameful, but even honorable. #AUE
