Braza has been in solitary confinement and under harsh conditions for a year and a half now, so visits are basically nonexistent. This is how I get to see him: on the TV in the courtroom, where they once again deny him parole. Like today. They declared him a persistent violator of prison rules for all sorts of terrible things: he took off his jacket while doing push-ups in his cell. He was asleep at 5 a.m. They found bread crumbs on the table. And so on. He himself, though, is not losing heart. He’s studying Spanish and Portuguese. He enrolled in a correspondence law program.
