We are in Izhevsk, where a scheduled meeting will take place today. It is a sad day here: a gas explosion in a residential building has claimed seven lives, and many people were injured. A period of mourning has been declared in the city. The local authorities have been unpleasantly surprising — they certainly have more important things to deal with right now, yet they have deployed massive police resources to obstruct us. Overnight, as many as six police crews blocked the equipment for the rally. During the night, the housing inspectorate went door to door to all the residents of the building who had allowed us to use the area around their apartment block for the meeting. This is not what the authorities and the police should be doing in a crisis situation. We have resolved all the issues, and the meeting will go ahead as planned: 2:00 p.m., at the Friendship of Peoples House (73 Klyuchevoy Posyolok Street). #Izhevsk
