Foreign writers, directors, journalists, and other cultural figures (including five Nobel laureates) have written an open letter to Vladimir Putin demanding that Alexei Navalny be given immediate medical assistance. The signatories include Benedict Cumberbatch, Jude Law, Ralph Fiennes, J. J. Abrams, J. K. Rowling, David Duchovny, Patrick Süskind, Thom Yorke, and Vanessa Redgrave. Alexei has been on a hunger strike for 18 days already. During that time, he has still not been allowed to see a doctor.
