Hooray! Christ is risen. Life and love have triumphed. As tradition calls for, I want to congratulate everyone on this greatest of holidays: believers (which I am now), nonbelievers (which I once was), and militant atheists (which I was too). I embrace you all and love you all. I had been waiting for this Easter for so long. And yes, Great Lent was not an easy one for me this year either. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to share in a full Easter feast today: I’m still in the first half of my fascinating transformation “from a skeleton barely dragging his feet into just a hungry man.” But I’ll eat the few spoonfuls of porridge I’m allowed with wonderful Easter cheer. Because on a day like this, I know and remember for certain that everything will be all right.
