What an interesting experiment. Let’s all take part in it and give United Russia, the Kremlin, and Roskomnadzor (Russia’s media and internet regulator) a good kicking for their whole “machine of bans.” They seem convinced they’ve become the rulers of the internet now. My lawyer came by with the news that in our country, any websites connected to me are now banned too. In a single day, they blocked as many as 50 sites — from navalny.com to the RosZhKH and RosYama projects. So filing complaints about broken roads and rotten pipes is extremism now, according to our officials. They also went after the doctors’ union I supported, and the teachers’ union too. They’re all extremists as well, apparently — daring to demand higher wages. So, one by one, they have: - banned us from the media; - banned us from elections; - and now they’re trying to switch us off from the internet. But here, it seems to me, Putin’s little thieves are overestimating what they can do. As the saying goes: you can spit on people, but what will you do if all the people spit back at you? Let’s show them that we won’t let officials take control of our beloved internet, imposing their rules here as if this were the Khimki Court (a district court near Moscow). Three simple things: a) download our app, which will let you get all the information without paying attention to the blocks. Links are in Stories. b) (most importantly) Register for Smart Voting. The address is: https://votesmart.appspot.com/. There’s also a link in the profile. They haven’t blocked Smart Voting yet, but of course it’s what they fear most. I’m sure all these blocks are connected to it. c) tell your followers about Smart Voting and our app through your Stories. It will only take a couple of minutes, but it’ll be a nice personal slap in the face to those who want to decide not only what we can watch on TV, but also what we may be “allowed” to see on the internet 😉
