A family New Year’s photo is an important tradition. It highlights the sweet, family-centered spirit of the holiday, giving it—for me personally—that very “New Year’s/Christmas feeling.” With the rise of social media, a family Christmas photo naturally became our Instagram tradition. And I myself love looking at these kinds of photos from friends’ and acquaintances’ families—it’s fun, after all: you notice who has grown up, who has gone bald, and whose family has a new addition. In any case, I have no intention of breaking this tradition, despite the small complications that have come up. So I asked Yulia, Dasha, and Zakhar to take a New Year’s photo, and then to take me from a similar photo and carefully insert me into it. As if we’re all hanging out together. Unfortunately, I still can’t see the result yet, but I’m sure it turned out well and full of holiday spirit. I want to wish all of you a wonderful holiday. Stay close to the people you love. And may they stay close to you too—so there’s no need to paste anyone in. No matter what, stay optimistic, make some wonderful wishes at midnight, and may they all come true. Sending hugs and love to everyone, ringing a little bell, and humming a song from some children’s cartoon about this wonderful holiday. Happy New Year!
